Team History[edit]
In 1978, the Daytona Beach Islanders switched affiliations from the Kansas City Royals to the Houston Astros and took the Astros moniker. In 1978, the Florida State League had an uneven 11 teams, so the Astros played in the North Division for the 1st half and the South Division in the 2nd half. At the end of 1984, the Astros bought the team and moved it to Kissimmee, FL and called them the Osceola Astros. The Florida State League put an expansion team in Daytona Beach to replace them. The 1985 Daytona Beach Islanders couldn't get a full working agreement, but were able to get two half teams from the Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles.
