Biographical Information[edit]

Doug McMillan pitched in the minors for three years and was a scout for about 17 years. His son Brett McMillan played professionally as well.

McMillan was picked by the San Francisco Giants in the 7th round of the 1965 amateur draft. He was 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA for the Magic Valley Cowboys that summer. He split 1966 between the Fresno Giants (1-4, 7.54, 2.11 WHIP in 7 starts) and Decatur Commodores (3-8, 4.72, 61 BB in 82 IP). In 1967, the right-hander improved to 4-7, 3.58 for Fresno to finish his minor league career at 8-21.

McMillan was later a California scout for the Giants (1990-2002?) and Montreal Expos (2003-?). He scouted Kory Casto, Steven Souza and Dan Trumble before his death of a heart attack at age 60.
