Biographical information[edit]

Dan Trumble is a former minor league baseball outfielder who played from 2000 to 2005 in the San Francisco Giants farm system and from 2007 to 2008 for the independent Long Beach Armada.

Drafted in the 25th round of the 2000 amateur draft (the signing scout was Douglas McMillan), Trumble - who hit .333 with eight home runs and 16 stolen bases with the University of San Francisco that year - got off to a solid start in the minors, hitting .366 with eight home runs and 36 RBI for the AZL Giants. However, in 48 at-bats with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, he hit only .167, bringing his totals to .321 with eight home runs and 39 RBI. His performance with the AZL Giants earned him on spot on the Arizona League All-Star team.

In 2001, Trumble played for the Hagerstown Suns, for whom he hit 26 home runs and drove in 75 RBI. Despite those impressive numbers, he hit only .236 and struck out 157 times in 399 at-bats. Trumble struck out 185 times in 412 at-bats for the San Jose Giants in 2002, hitting .216 with 15 home runs and 53 RBI. He played for San Jose again in 2003, hitting .206 with 21 home runs and 43 RBI, striking out 120 times in 296 at-bats. In 334 at-bats with San Jose in 2004, Trumble hit .240 with 17 home runs and 48 RBI, striking out 119 times. 2005 would end up being his final year in affiliated baseball. That season, he split time between the Augusta Greenjackets and Norwich Navigators. In 112 at-bats, he hit .205 with three home runs, nine RBI and 29 strikeouts. Overall, Trumble hit .235 with 90 home runs, 267 RBI, 687 strikeouts and 227 walks in 1762 affiliated minor league at-bats (530 games).

Trumble played for the Long Beach Armada in 2007, hitting .263 with 13 home runs and 66 RBI in 236 at-bats with them. He struck out 85 times. With Long Beach in 2008, he hit .228 with 10 home runs, 14 stolen bases and 120 strikeouts in 85 games.

Including his independent league statistics, Trumble's career numbers include a .237/.336/.448 line with 113 home runs, 382 RBI and 547 hits in 683 games. He was an Arizona League All-Star in 2000.
