Biographical Information[edit]
Doug Banks played college baseball at the University of Arizona.
Banks joined the Texas Rangers organization in 2008 and worked as a Major League Coaching Staff Assistant through the 2011 season. He then spent the next four years as a Rangers' area scout. One of his signees was Marcus Greene.
Banks moved to the San Diego Padres organization in 2016 and worked as a hitting coach for several years. He coached the AZL Padres in 2016, Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2017, and Lake Elsinore Storm in 2018-2019. Banks was slated to return to the Arizona League with the AZL Padres 2 in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic shut down minor league baseball. In 2021 Banks moved to the top of the minor league ladder as a coach for the El Paso Chihuahuas.
