Biographical Information[edit]
Derek David had a brief independent league career. David set a NCAA Division III in 2008 by homering in 7 straight games, breaking Eric Heise's 10-year-old mark of 6. He fell one shy of the NCAA record of 8 shared by Andy Bruce and Ryan Jackson. He hit .432/.506/.879 with 26 homers, 79 runs and 73 RBI that season. He was not just the Division III All-American at 3B but also the American Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year for that Division. He played professionally that summer with the Brockton Rox (9 for 39, 2B, 4 BB, 13 K, SB, 6 R, 2 RBI, 2 HBPO) and River City Rascals (0 for 3, HBP). He had 16 putouts in the outfield and 13 at 1B without making an error in his brief pro career.
