Biographical Information[edit]

Dennis Womack was a college coach.

Womack played baseball and basketball in junior college then was an All-Southeastern Conference outfielder in 1969.

Womack coached high schools for two years in Columbus, GA and Jacksonville, FL then was assistant coach at Auburn in 1973-1978. [1] He was an assistant coach and ticket manager at the University of Virginia in 1979-1980, then became head coach in 1981. He held that role for 23 years, going 594-605-7. He was Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 1985 and set a Virginia school record for wins. His products included Ryan Zimmerman, Mark Reynolds, Javier Lopez, Brian Buchanan, Seth Greisinger, Joe Koshansky, Doug Johns, Pat Daneker, Frank Lankford and Bob Malloy.
