Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dennis Solari played in the New York Mets minor league system from 1972 to 1978.

He was drafted out of high school in the 13th round of the 1972 amateur draft, a few picks after pitcher Pete Falcone, and began his professional career as a 17-year-old. In his first season, with the Marion Mets, he was 2-4 with a 3.17 ERA in 20 games (7 starts). He went 10-11 with 10 complete games and a 2.54 ERA in 26 starts between the Visalia Mets and Pompano Beach Mets in 1973 and followed that with 7-5 and 7-7 records for the Victoria Toros and Jackson Mets in 1974 and 1975, respectively.

The hurler converted to relief pitching for 1976 and pitched for the Tidewater Tides, his first foray into Triple-A. That year, he was 6-4 with a 2.72 ERA in 42 games. In 37 games in 1977 - 36 of which were spent with Tidewater (the other was with the Single-A Lynchburg Mets), Solari went 3-4 with a 4.27 ERA. He went 0-2 with 11 saves and a 3.16 ERA in 31 games between Jackson and Tidewater in 1978.

Overall, Solari went 35-37 with 25 saves and a 3.32 ERA in 198 games (75 starts) over seven seasons.
