Biographical Information[edit]
David Tufo played college baseball at Willamette University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics in 2009. He also earned a master's degree in recreation and sports sciences from Ohio University in 2014.
Tufo began his college coaching career with the Menlo College Oaks. He was an assistant coach in 2011-2013 and returned to Menlo College as the associate head coach in 2015-2016. In between, Tufo spent the 2014 season as director of baseball operations for the Santa Clara University Broncos. After completing his second Menlo College stint, Tufo moved to the University of Portland from 2017-2019 as their volunteer assistant coach.
During these years, Tufo also gained experience coaching Coastal Plain League summer collegiate baseball teams. He was a Fayetteville SwampDogs assistant coach in 2011 and returned for that role in 2012. However, the head coach suffered an accident shortly before the season began and Tufo was named the interim head coach. He was the head coach for the Forest City Owls in 2013 and returned to the SwampDogs in 2014 as the head coach.
In 2020, the Milwaukee Brewers hired Tufo for a Carolina Mudcats coaching position before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season. Tufo managed the ACL Brewers Blue in 2021-2022. He was then bench coach of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2023 and Nashville Sounds in 2024.
