Biographical Information[edit]
David Jiménez has pitched for the Salvadoran national team. He is presumably the brother of Wilfredo Jiménez, a teammate who has the same matrilineal surname.
He debuted in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Central American Qualifier, starting against champion Nicaragua. He began by walking Isaac Benard but escaped the inning unscathed, including retiring former major leaguer Cheslor Cuthbert. He battled Kevin Gadea for two shutout innings before allowing a run in the third. After allowing the first three to reach in the 5th, he was replaced by Rafael Mena, who let two inherited runs score; David took the loss. [1]
In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he made one appearance. Relieving Marcelo Parker with one out in the 4th, two on and a 14-0 deficit against Cuba, he allowed a RBI single to Yasniel González but Luis Mateo was thrown out at third. He then retired Guillermo Avilés to end the frame. In the 5th, he faced the minimum: Yurisbel Gracial flew out, Andrys Pérez walked and Raico Santos hit into a double play. The game then ended early due to the mercy rule. He tied Jhonny Bautista for the best ERA on the team. [2]
