Biographical Information[edit]

Dave Adlesh was one of many talented youngsters to play for the Colt .45s and Astros in the 1960s. He appeared in a few games every season from 1963 to 1968, and, when he first broke in at 19, he was surrounded by other players approximately his age. John Paciorek and Sonny Jackson were 18, Adlesh, Rusty Staub, Joe Morgan, Chris Zachary, Brock Davis and Glenn Vaughan were 19 and Jerry Grote and Ivan Murrell were 20. Jimmy Wynn, the "Toy Cannon", Aaron Pointer, and Ernie Fazio were 21. Adlesh never got many at bats as a backup catcher, reaching as high as 104 in only one season, his last. On June 18, 1967, he caught the first of Don Wilson's no-hitters. In 1964, he played primarily in the minors for the San Antonio Bullets, catching in 130 straight games on the pennant-winning Texas League squad and hitting 14 home runs.
