Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Daulton Jefferies was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in Competitive Balance Round A of the 2016 amateur draft, with the 37th overall pick. He was the Athletics' second selection, after A.J. Puk who went 6th overall in the first round proper. In 2013, coming out of high school, he had been selected in the 39th round by the Miami Marlins but did not sign. Coming out of the University of California, Berkeley, he likely would have been drafted higher were it not for a shoulder injury that cut his final season short.

He began his pro career in 2016 with the AZL Athletics, with no decisions and an ERA of 2.38 in 5 starts totaling 11 1/3 innings. However, he would pitch even less over the next two seasons: in 2017, he pitched just 7 innings for the Stockton Ports of the California League and in 2018 he was back in the Arizona League for just one appearance of two innings. He underwent Tommy John surgery after his second outing of 2017, but after returning the following June, he was shut down for the remainder of the season following his only appearance in a game.

His brother Jake Jefferies played in the minor leagues from 2008-2013, and he is a nephew of major leaguer Blas Minor.
