Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Danny Black played in the Florida/Miami Marlins' chain from 2010 to 2015, reaching as high as the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs in both 2014 and 2015. He totaled 203 games at the Double-A level with the Jacksonville Suns and helped the Suns win the 2014 Southern League title. Black was named a Florida State League All-Star in 2012 with the High-A Jupiter Hammerheads.
According to one source, Black began his coaching career as a player/coach with the Hammerheads in 2016. The next season he was originally assigned to coach the Greensboro Grasshoppers,[1] but moved back to Jupiter as an assistant coach at some point. Black was an assistant coach for Jupiter in 2018 and a bench coach in 2019. He was scheduled to serve as a defensive coach for the Wichita Wind Surge in 2020 before COVID-19 caused the cancellation of the minor league season. Black was a defensive coach for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in 2021, the FCL Marlins in 2022, and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2023-2024. After the 2023 season he also coached the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League.
