Biographical Information[edit]

Danilo Weber has played in Germany and South Africa and for the German national team. His father Maximilian Weber also played in Germany as well as his brother Yannis Weber. [1]

Weber was 1 for 3 for Germany in the 2011 European Junior Championship and had two putouts. [2] He played in South Africa in 2017. [3] In 2018, he hit .294/.373/.394 for the Stuttgart Reds in Germany with a team-high 20 RBI in 28 games, stealing 9 bases in 10 tries. He fielded .891 between shortstop (where he was their starter), second base and all three outfield spots. He was 4th in the southern Bundesliga-1 in swipes, 2 behind Nateshon Thomas and one behind Shane Salley and Andrija Tomić. He was also 4th with 12 errors, two behind Kruno Gojković. In 2019, he fell to .198/.274/.267 for Stuttgart, fielding .851 as a 3B/SS. [6] He was much better in limited time in 2020 at .512/.574/.829 with 19 RBI in 47 plate appearances, though he fielded .800. [7] As a OF/3B for Stuttgart in 2021, he kept it up over a full season, producing at a .410/.479/.714 clip with 13 doubles, 5 homers, 26 runs, 23 RBI, 15 walks and 6 steals (not caught) in 27 games, though he fielded .786. He was among the southern Bundesliga-1 leaders in hits (4th, 43), doubles (1st), total bases (75, 7th), extra-base hits (20, 5th), average (8th, between Ludwig Glaser and Gary Owens), slugging (7th, between Juan Martín and Glaser) and OPS (9th, between William Thorp and Xavier Gonzalez). He then played for Germany in the 2021 European Championship. Starting in left field and hitting cleanup in their opener, he struck out his first at-bat against Croatia's Jose Diaz. After going 0 for 3, he was replaced by Lou Helmig, who started in left the rest of the tournament. Weber later appeared in two games, pinch-running for Simon Gühring in a rout of Ukraine and scoring then staying in at DH; he struck out versus Andrii Kostashchuk in his lone at-bat. In a rout of Sweden, he again ran for Gühring, scored then stayed in at DH. This time, he got plunked by Erik Marqvardsen his only plate appearance then scored his third run of the Euros despite not getting a hit. [9]
