Biographical Information[edit]

Dan Spillner pitched two one-hitters in his career. The first was on June 19, 1974 as a member of the San Diego Padres against the Chicago Cubs. He walked 6 and struck out 3 in the game. The only hit was a 3rd-inning infield single by Rick Monday. The second was on August 20, 1980 as a member of the Cleveland Indians against the Chicago White Sox. He walked 2 and struck out 8 in the game. The only hit was a 9th-inning single by Leo Sutherland.

Spillner was the Opening Day starting pitcher for the Indians in 1980, a 10-2 loss to the California Angels in Anaheim.

His walk on July 7, 1985 was the only walk drawn by a Chicago White Sox pitcher between Stan Bahnsen on September 22, 1972 and Mike Sirotka on June 7, 1998.

Spillner was pitching coach of the Everett Giants in 1991.
