Biographical Information[edit]

Speedy outfielder Leo Sutherland stole 51 bases and scored 100 runs for the Appleton Foxes in 1978. He went on to play in 45 games in 1980 and 1981 with the Chicago White Sox. His first hit came on August 13, 1980 against the New York Yankees off pitcher Ron Guidry. He started the game batting leadoff and playing left field. He started the first 14 games of his career and hit .279 in those games. He finished with a .258 average for the year.

In 1981, Sutherland was called up by the Sox late in the season and only started one game that year, on October 4th against the Minnesota Twins. He had his only career three-run game that day, his best game coming in his last major league game.
