Biographical Information[edit]

Dalton Guthrie was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 40th round of the 2014 amateur draft but chose to attend the University of Florida instead. Three years later the Philadelphia Phillies drafted Guthrie in the 6th round of the 2017 amateur draft. At Florida, he played in the College World Series all three years he was there, including being part of the Series-winning team in 2017. In 2021 Dalton split his season between the AA Reading Fightin Phils and AAA Lehigh Valley IronPigs, combining to bat .262/.320/.401 in 87 games, also including a brief rehabilitation assignment in the Florida Complex League. He was originally an infielder, but the Phillies began slotting him in the outfield starting that year.

He made his major league debut as the starting rightfielder for the Phillies against the Miami Marlins on September 6, 2022, with the Phillies in the thick of the battle for a wild card slot. Batting eighth, he went 0 for 3 with a pair of strikeouts in a 3-2 win. He had spent the season with Lehigh Valley in the International League, where he batted .302/.363/.476 with 10 homers and 52 RBIs in 92 games.

Dalton is the son of Mark Guthrie and the brother of Kevin Guthrie.
