Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Dallas Buck was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the third round of the 2006 amateur draft. His stock had dropped during his junior year as his velocity dropped. He was signed by scout Ed Gustafson for $250,000 and opted for rehab over surgery. He made his pro debut with the Visalia Oaks on April 6th of the following year, striking out 11 against the Modesto Nuts in his first outing. Overall, he went 4-4 with a 3.41 ERA in 16 starts for the club, before finally submitting to Tommy John surgery in August. He played for Visalia and the South Bend Silver Hawks in 2008 before being traded to the Cincinnati Reds on August 11th in the deal that brought Adam Dunn to Arizona. Following the trade, he made three starts for the Sarasota Reds. He split 2009 between the GCL Reds and Carolina Mudcats, making 10 starts between the two clubs.
