Biographical Information[edit]

Dale Jones pitched five years for Wayne State College, six years in the minor leagues and had a cup of coffee with the Philadelphia Phillies, losing four years to the military during World War II when he served in the U.S. Navy.

Jones was a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies (1948-1970) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (1971-1980), signing such players as Bobby Wine, Lee Elia, Norm Gigon, Rick Rhoden, Dennis Lewallyn and Ross Jones.

He died at age 61 from a heart attack at an awards banquet shortly after receiving a special plaque and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
