Based in Cordoba, Veracruz, the Cafeteros de Cordoba (Coffee Growers) have been members of the Mexican League on and off nearly since its inception. They played in the Liga from 1937 through 1939, 1972 through 1979, 1984 through 1986, 1991, 1992 and 1998 through 2003. The Coffee Dealers won titles in 1939 (led by player-manager Lazaro Salazar) and 1972 (led by the bat of Ossie Chavarria and the pitching of Silvano Quezada). The team was revived in 2006 when the Petroleros de Poza Rica moved to Cordoba on June 14.
