Columbus Elite Giants
The third and final attempt at Negro League baseball in Columbus, OH came in 1935 when the Nashville Elite Giants came to town as the Columbus Elite Giants and went 16-17. Candy Jim Taylor was the manager of a team that had plenty of talented players including 2B Sammy T. Hughes (.320), 3B Leroy Morney (.419), OF Wild Bill Wright (.298), P Bill Byrd (2-3), P Schoolboy Griffith (3-4) and P Pullman Porter (3-2). In 1936 the club moved once more, this time to Washington, DC, where they became the Washington Elite Giants.
