Washington Elite Giants

The Washington Elite Giants were formerly the Columbus Elite Giants and moved to Washington, DC in 1936. They lasted there just two seasons, before moving to their final bit longer-term home as the Baltimore Elite Giants. The first year, they went 21-24 under player-manager Felton Snow. OF Wild Bill Wright (.356) led the Negro National League with 7 triples, 1B Shifty Jim West hit .354 and Bill Byrd went 10-5 for the club.

In 1937, the club now managed by Biz Mackey finished fifth at 24-36. West (.373), Snow (.336) and Wright (.370) provided solid offense, with Wright finishing among the league leaders in almost every offensive statistic. Byrd (9-6, 4.39 RA) remained their workhorse.
