Biographical Information[edit]

Chun-Wei Kuo caught in the CPBL for 7 years.

Kuo represented Taiwan in the 2010 World Junior Championship, going 0 for 5 with a HBP and two runs. [1] He played one game in the 2013 World Port Tournament and did not bat. [2] He also was with them for the 2014 Haarlemse Honkbalweek. [3] The Uni-President Lions drafted him in the third round of the 2014 CPBL Draft, but he spent his first two seasons primarily in the minor league; he only played 9 games with the big club in 2015. Kuo was the backup behind Chih-Kang Kao and Dai-An Lin in 2016, and he hit .235/.313/.329. The young catcher was selected into the 2017 CPBL All-Star Game (as the theme was prospects vs. veterans and he was one of the top catchers age 23 or younger), but he was 0-for-3. He ended up having a .277/.376/.330 batting line in 2017.[4]

The Kaohsiung native only played 12 games in 2018, but the Lions still brought him into the 2018 Taiwan Series. He was 1-for-3, with a single against Tzu-Peng Huang of the Lamigo Monkeys in Game 4, but the Monkeys still beat the Lions in 6 games. Kuo played a career-high 53 games in 2019, and he batted .254/.356/.333. However, since Chung-Yu Chen and Lin shined, Kuo didn't have many chances and he only played 18 games in the next two seasons. After spending the entire 2022 season in the minor league, Kuo announced his retirement.

Overall, Kuo hit .237/.335/.301 with 88 hits and 21 doubles in 7 seasons in the CPBL.
