Biographical Information[edit]
Christian Wise, brother of Brendan Wise, pitched for the New Zealand national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, allowing one run in 1 2/3 IP over two games. In his first outing, he relieved Makauley Fox-Rolfe with a 10-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th against Thailand. He allowed a leadoff single to Johnny Damon then threw a wild pitch. Joseph Daru singled in Damon, then Wise uncorked another wild pitch. He recovered to retire Sek Sitthikaew and Jack Daru before walking Bongkot Ananthansan. Yong Min Lee replaced him at that point and ended the threat. In his second game, Wise replaced Lincoln Holdzkom with a 9-0 deficit, two on and two out in the 7th against Taiwan. He walked Chih-Sheng Lin then retired Szu-Chi Chou. In the 8th, he retired Yung-Chi Chen and Bing-Yen Lee before giving way to Landon Adelman.
