Biographical Information[edit]
Christian Canlas pitched two games in the 2001 Baseball World Cup, the first Baseball World Cup for the Philippines. He allowed 4 hits and a walk while retiring only three batters; he was charged with six runs (four earned) for a team-worst 36.00 ERA. He was 2 for 9 as the main Philippines shortstop in the 2002 Asian Games; Ruben Angeles (4) was the only other Filipino with multiple hits. He was in the 2003 Asian Championship. He won Gold with the Philippines in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. In the 2007 Asian Championship, Canlas was the main shortstop for the Philippines. He had five assists and one error and was 1 for 3 at the plate, his lone hit coming off major leaguer Jae-kuk Ryu of South Korea. He helped the Philippines win Silver in the 2007 Southeast Asian Games.
