Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder/third baseman Christian Franco played in the independent Northern League from 2001 to 2003.
He was on the winning team in the 1999 Division II College World Series. He hit .277/.338/.401 with six home runs and 37 RBI in 81 games for the Schaumburg Flyers in 2001. He tied Ira Smith for 4th in the Frontier League with 10 times hit by pitch. In 2002, he hit .281/.326/.396 with seven home runs and 35 RBI in 69 games for the Winnipeg Goldeyes and in 2003, he hit a combined .215/.258/.264 with one home run and 12 RBI in 35 games split between the Joliet Jackhammers (.221/.274/.294 in 20 G), Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks (3 for 11, 2 BB) and Gary Southshore Railcats (8 for 42, 2B).
Overall, he hit .267/.319/.374 with 14 home runs and 84 RBI in 185 games. He made two pitching appearances and posted a 0.00 ERA with one hit and two walks allowed in a single inning of work. He fielded .972 in the outfield and .867 at third base.
He died in a traffic collision three days after his 37th birthday.
