Biographical Information[edit]

Chien-Lung Kao played six seasons in the Chinese Professional Baseball League. His younger brother Kuo-Ching Kao was a CPBL MVP, and his cousin Chia-Hung Chen also played in the CPBL.

Chien-Lung Kao was a third-round pick of the Sinon Bulls in 2000. He was 7 for 37 with a double and two homers that season. He hit .237/.261/.305 in 2001 and .238/.309/.280 in 2002. He batted .232/.266/.392 with a career-high 9 home runs in 76 games in 2003 but was terrible (.165/.226/.236 in 48 G) in 2004, when he was teammates with his brother. He was released the next year, went 2 for 6 after being picked up by the La New Bears, then retired. He became a hitting coach at Chiayi University and was promoted to head coach in 2008.

Overall, Kao hit .221/.268/.321 with 26 doubles, 14 homers, 76 runs and 72 RBI in 771 plate appearances over 262 CPBL games. The outfielder fielded .982.
