Biographical Information[edit]

Chia-Hung Tsai pitched in the CPBL for 3 years.

Tsai was drafted by the La New Bears in the 4th round of the 2003 CPBL Draft, but he only pitched one game in 2004 due to injuries. He had a 4.00 ERA in 7 games in 2005, and the Bears released him. The Uni-President Lions picked him up, but Tsai’s ERA was 9.22 in 14 games in the minors in 2006. He was released again after that season, and he signed with the Chinatrust Whales. Tsai had a 0.82 ERA with 4 holds in the minors in 2007, and he also won the ERA title. He had a 5.23 ERA in 8 appearances in 2008 with the big club, and his ERA was 5.87 in 6 relief outings in the minors. The Whales were expelled after the 2008 season, and his professional career ended.

Tsai’s repertoire included a fastball (peak 88.2 mph), slider, sinker.

Overall, Tsai was 0-0 with a 4.43 ERA, pitched 20 1/3 IP and struck out 8 in 3 seasons in the CPBL.
