Biographical Information[edit]

Chen-Yu Hung played in the CPBL for 8 years.

Hung represented Taiwan in the 2005 World Youth Championship, 2006 World Junior Championship, 2010 Haarlemse Honkbalweek and 2010 World University Championship. The La New Bears drafted him in the second round of the 2011 CPBL Draft, and he hit .298/.383/.380 in the minor league in 2012. He also got 49 at-bats with the big club, but his batting line was .204/.264/.306. He then hit .158/.213/.158 in 2013, and he stayed in the minor league for the entire 2014 season; his batting line was .323/.415/.414 there. Since the Monkeys had plenty of talented corner infielders, Hung was turned into a pitcher in 2015. However, he allowed 8 runs in 4 innings combined in the next two seasons, and he was released after the 2016 season.

The CTBC Brothers picked him up, and Hung was 2-4 with a 5.76 ERA in 2017. He started in the 2017 Taiwan Series Game 3, but he allowed 8 runs in 2 1/3 innings and got the loss. The Monkeys beat the Brothers in 4 games. Hung struggled again in 2018 as his ERA was 5.94 in 25 games, and he recorded a 6.97 ERA in 15 relief outings in 2019. He stayed in the minor league for entire 2020 season, then the Brothers released him.

Overall, Hung was 4-8 with a 6.31 ERA, struck out 71 and pitched 107 innings in 5 seasons in the CPBL. He hit .179/.237/.226 with 19 hits as a batter.
