Chang-seong Ko has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization for 9 years.
Ko was drafted by the Doosan Bears in the 2nd round of the 2008 KBO draft, and he only pitched 5 games for their big club in his first season. He notched 16 holds with a solid 1.95 ERA in 64 appearances in 2009, and he was 5th in appearances (9 behind Taek-hyun Ryu) and 2nd in holds (tied with Hyun-wook Jong). Ko then pitched 73 games with a 3.62 ERA in 22 games in 2010, and he was 2nd in holds (1 behind Jae-hun Chung) and 3rd in appearances (3 behind Sang-yeul Lee). He was on Korea's roster for the 2010 Asian Games, and he pitched 2/3 of a shutout inning against Pakistan. South Korea won Gold, earning him an exemption from Korea's normally mandatory military service.
The Seoul native slumped to a 4.44 ERA with 14 holds in 51 appearances in 2011, and he struggled again in 2012 as his ERA rose to 8.62 in 21 games. The NC Dinos then selected him in the second draft, and his ERA was 4.79 in 28 games in 2013. Ko improved to a 1.80 ERA in 25 games in 2014, but he only pitched 4 games with the big club in the next two seasons. The Dinos released him in 2016, and he had a 6.17 in 9 games for the Sydney Blue Sox in the 2017-2018 ABL. The KT Wiz signed him, but he had a 6.69 ERA in 42 games in 2018 then he retired. Ko was an assistant coach for Gwangju Dongsung High School from 2021 to 2022 and Yatap High School in 2023, then Sunrin Internet High School named him their pitching coach in 2024.
Overall, Ko was 18-13 with a 3.89 ERA, notched 62 holds and a save in 315 appearance, struck out 212 and pitched 319 innings in 9 seasons in the KBO. As of 2024, he was tied with Young-myung An for 62nd in holds in KBO history.
