Should John Candelaria be added? Almost was on the Puerto Rican Olympic basketball team. - Mischa (talk) 15:40, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

Should we have a category for javelin throwers? We have about as many of them as golfers - Mischa (talk) 13:11, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

I feel like "javelin throwers" would be more of a subset of something like "olympic sports" than its own category. Jeff (talk) 13:47, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Or "track and field" perhaps? Olympic sports covers hockey, basketball, golf and baseball, all of which have categories. - Mischa (talk) 15:04, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Exactly Jeff (talk) 00:38, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
It's quite common for baseball players to have practiced track and field; they are top athletes after all, and track and field is the gateway to most other sports (regardless of John Kruk's famous quip). So we'd need to define who gets included. There should be a certain high level of involvement, not just being on your high school's track team. Philippe (talk) 13:40, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
Competition in international tournaments like Felipe Alou and Tito Figueroa would seem an obvious inclusion. What about college athletes in those sports like Carl Reynolds? - Mischa (talk) 14:53, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
Earning a letter for track in college would qualify, in my view. Philippe (talk) 20:03, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

Category's quite a bit smaller now, but still over 100, now that we took out the Track and Field guys. Lots of other sports here - fair number of boxers, and things like archery, badminton, handball, skating, wrestling, etc. - Mischa (talk) 17:49, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Should we break out the soccer players into their own category? - Mischa (talk) 10:08, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
