Category talk:Cricket Players

From BR Bullpen

No idea which of these guys played in top-level leagues or if we have a way to distinguish that for cricket. Some were clearly stars (Montague Alfred Noble) but some might have been very minor players. Also, we just started this category and we have more cricket players than hockey or golf players. - --Mischa (talk) 12:34, 30 September 2014 (EDT)

In the case of Singh and Patel, there were questions about whether they were ever anything more than week-end cricketers; it's interesting that the category divides among pioneers of baseball, many of which came from a cricket background, and contemporary South Asian (and a couple of Caribbean) baseball players. Would you fit a guy like Mike Young, who coached both sports, in this category as well ? --Philippe (talk) 09:10, 1 October 2014 (EDT)

Usually, we've distinguished between Players and Coaches. Ex. Robert Eenhoorn is now a soccer coach but wouldn't fit in a soccer player category if we make one. Should we remove Singh and Patel? A couple other 19th Century bios said players played cricket but the ages indicate it was in their mid-teens or so, hardly old enough for serious play I would think. I wasn't sure who to leave in and out 100% here but felt a category was needed. - --Mischa (talk) 09:15, 1 October 2014 (EDT)

Any idea if Jordan Thliveris qualifies? See http://californiawinterleague.com/2016/02/06/former-cricket-player-catching-on-in-the-cwl/ - --Mischa (talk) 16:49, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
