Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Casey Kopitzke was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 27th round of the 1999 amateur draft. He played in the Cubs' chain from 1999 to 2006, spending time in AAA in 2001, 2004, and 2006.
In 2007-2008, Kopitzke was the Cubs' minor league catching coordinator. On June 20, 2009, he was scheduled to begin his minor league managerial career with the Boise Hawks. Tragically, Kopitzke and his wife Erin lost their daughter Catherine a week beforehand. Kopitzke took over as manager on June 28th. Franklin Font was the interim manager during the first week of the season.
