Biographical Information[edit]

Casey Harms was an outfielder and three-year captain at Occidental College. In his final season the Tigers recorded their best record in over 30 years. Harms graduated in 2012 with a degree in kinesiology. He would later earn a master's degree in coaching & athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine.

After graduating from Occidental, Harms joined the University of California, Santa Barbara Gauchos as their Director of Baseball Operations. He stayed in this role for five years before being promoted to assistant coach in August 2017. Harms remained with the Gauchos through the 2018 season. He stayed in Santa Barbara for his next coaching position as Associate Head Coach at Santa Barbara City College. Harms retained this position until the spring of 2021.

In addition to coaching in Santa Barbara, Harms gained additional experience with summer collegiate baseball teams. He was an assistant coach for the Kelowna Falcons of the West Coast League in 2014. In 2019 he was named manager of the Waterloo Bucks in the Northwoods League and led his team to the playoffs. They were even more successful in 2020 when the Bucks won the League championship. Harms was slated to return to Waterloo in 2021 before joining the professional coaching ranks.

The Pittsburgh Pirates hired Harms as a hitting coach for the FCL Pirates Black in 2021. The Pirates appointed him to be their Integrated Baseball Performance Coach (AKA Development Coach) for the Bradenton Marauders in 2022-2023. He was then bench coach of the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2024.
