Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Navas was a Nicaraguan infielder of the 1930s-1940s.

Navas was nicknamed Pichon by teammate Manuel Cueto in 1933 due to his being the youngest player on the team. He played for the Nicaraguan national team in the 1935 Central American and Caribbean Games when they tied for second behind Cuba and then helped them win the Bronze Medal at the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1939, he led Nicaragua's national league in average. In the 1939 Amateur World Series, he played for Nicaragua as they won the Silver Medal. They repeated in the 1940 Amateur World Series.

In the 1941 Amateur World Series, he led all players with six steals, though Nicaragua struggled at 2-6. He won another batting title in Nicaragua. He would play in both the 1944 Amateur World Series and 1945 Amateur World Series before an injury sidelined him. He then became a coach, including for the national team in the 1948 Amateur World Series. He managed Nicaragua to a 6-5 record in the 1952 Amateur World Series and a Bronze in the 1953 Amateur World Series.

In 1995, he was inducted into the Nicaraguan Sports Hall of Fame.
