Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Martinez was a relief pitcher in the Kansas City Royals minor league system from 1997-2000. He appeared in 46 games earning a 6-4 record with four saves and an ERA of 3.68. After his playing career ended, Martinez returned to the Royals as a minor league pitching coach.

In 2010 Martinez was slated to return to Idaho Falls, but switched roles with Jerry Nyman shortly before the Chukars season started so Nyman could be closer to his aging mother. In 2017 Martinez served as a Lexington Legends interim coach for 3-4 weeks early in the season while regular pitching coach Mitch Stetter was on medical leave. Martinez was scheduled to be the pitching coach for the Legends in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

In addition, Martinez worked as the 2013 pitching coach for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League.
