Biographical Information[edit]
Carlos Chavez was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 17th round of the 1992 amateur draft from New Mexico Junior College and he pitched in their minor league system through 1996. In the following years Chavez split time between the minor leagues, independent leagues, and foreign leagues. He ended his playing career in the Mexican Pacific League during the 2006/2007 season. For the minor league portion of his career, Chavez had a 35-36 record, 23 saves, and an ERA of 4.50 while pitching in 314 games (44 starts). He reached AAA for one game in 1995 with the Rochester Red Wings.
Chavez moved quickly into coaching, starting in Mexico.

He was scheduled to return to the Lake Monsters in 2020 before COVID-19 shut down the minor league season.
Chavez sometimes also worked as a coach in the Mexican Pacific League during the U.S. offseason.
