Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Carlo Cota played in the Toronto Blue Jays system from 2002 to 2007, then for the independent Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks from 2008 to 2012. He played a single game at Triple-A, going hitless in 4 at-bats in 2007.

The Blue Jays took him in the 33rd round of the 2002 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of pitcher Tony Sipp. He hit .320/.416/.521 in 51 games for the short-season Auburn Doubledays in 2003, then had 11 home runs and 63 RBI for the Dunedin Blue Jays in 2004 (earning a spot on the Florida State League All-Star team) and 12 home runs and 52 RBI between two clubs in 2005. After a couple more ho-hum seasons, he was out of affiliated ball and with Fargo-Moorhead. In his first year with them, 2008, he slashed .325/.427/.475 with 8 home runs, 59 RBI and 14 steals in 96 games to earn Northern League All-Star honors. Though he fell to .257/.356/.415 the next year, he hit 10 home runs and had 57 RBI. In 2010, he had 12 dingers, 44 RBI and 15 steals and in 2011, he had 13 home runs and 51 RBI. He slipped to .219/.295/.333 in 2012 to wrap up his career.

Overall, Cota hit .275/.362/.421 with 83 home runs, 498 RBI and 71 stolen bases in 1,041 games.
