Biographical Information[edit]

Cale Iorg is the son of Garth Iorg, the nephew of Dane Iorg and Lee Iorg and the brother of Eli Iorg and Isaac Iorg. He began his minor league career in 2007.

Picked in the 16th round of the 2004 amateur draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Iorg went on to college and hit .280/.331/.415 as a freshman at the University of Alabama as the starting shortstop for the #20 team in NCAA Division I. He then took two years off of baseball to serve as a Mormon missionary in Portugal. During this time, he did not play baseball. He still was picked in the 6th round of the 2007 amateur draft by the Detroit Tigers and signed by scout David Chadd for $1,497,500.

Iorg debuted professionally with the GCL Tigers (2 for 11, BB, 6 K) and Lakeland Flying Tigers (.278/.316/.389 in 5 games). He spent the winter with the North Shore Honu, going 3 for 17 with a walk and 7 strikeouts.
