Dane Iorg is the brother of Garth Iorg and uncle of Eli Iorg, Isaac Iorg, and Cale Iorg. Another brother, Lee Iorg, played in the minors.
He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the secondary phase of the 1971 amateur draft. He made his big league debut for the Phillies on Opening Day, April 9, 1977, as a pinch-hitter facing Jackie Brown of the Montreal Expos. A few days later, on April 15th, he was the Phils' starting first baseman in the first game ever played at Stade Olympique. He came up with the first double and RBI in the ballpark's history, driving in Greg Luzinski in the 2nd inning. However, his time in Philadelphia was short, as on June 15th, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals with Tom Underwood for Bake McBride and Steve Waterbury.
He had a career .522 post-season batting average
Notable Achievements[edit]
