Biographical Information[edit]
Brittany Hepburn has pitched regularly for the Australian women's national team.
She debuted as a teenager in the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup, allowing five hits and three runs (two earned) in an inning against Cuba before Kim McMillan took over; she did not get a decision as Australia rallied to win. She allowed one run in three (unearned) and fanned six against Taiwan and got the win over Wen-Ching Hsieh to get a spot in the semifinals; Lauren McGrath succeeded her. Her third outing of the event was a rocky one, allowing five runs (all earned) in 1 1/3 IP before McGrath relieved. She led Australia in games started on the mound but had their second-highest ERA; only Stacy Saggus was higher. She tied Yukari Isozaki, Loudelis Moreno, Tzu-Hui Pan, Lianni Rodriguez and Hsiao-Chien Wang for the most starts in the Cup. [1]
Hepburn was wild (4 BB, 4 R, 4 ER in 1/3 IP) against Japan in the 2014 Women's Baseball World Cup. Her other outing that year was better; facing Donna Williams and Team USA. She threw three shutout innings but allowed two in the 4th to lose the pitching duel; McMillan finished the game. Due to the struggles against Japan, she wound up with the third-highest ERA for the Bronze Medal winners. [2] At the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup, she allowed four runs (three earned) in three innings against Taiwan; she was relieved by Jacinda Barclay, who wound up taking the loss. She allowed five runs (all earned) in five innings before Barclay took over against Silver Medal-bound Canada, taking the loss against Autumn Mills. [3]
The right-hander allowed four runs in two innings against newcomer Dominican Republic in the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup before Abbey Kelly relieved. She lost to Miyu Shimizu and champion Japan, walking six and allowing five runs in 2 1/3 IP. She was 8th in the event with eight walks issued and tied for 7th with two starts. [4]
