Team History[edit]

The Bridgeport Bluefish played in the independent Atlantic League. They were one of the orignal teams that began play in 1998. They played their home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Bluefish have played in the league's championship series three times and captured the title in 1999.

In a promotional stunt, the Bluefish hired Pete Rose, banned from Major League Baseball since 1989 for betting on baseball games, as their manager for one game on June 16, 2014. The Bluefish defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers, 2-0, in his one game at the helm. The club folded after the 2017 season when they couldn't renew the lease on their park.
