Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Brian Humphries began his professional career in 2011. He was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox as the last pick in the 19th round of the 2008 amateur draft, but he did not sign. He did sign after being taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 14th round of the 2011 amateur draft. The scout was Matt Hattabaugh.

Possessing decent speed, he stole 12 bases in 63 games for the Tri-City Dust Devils in 2011. In 2013, he had 14 steals and a .300/.323/.433 slash line in 111 games for the Modesto Nuts. After walking just 11 times in 429 plate appearances in 2014 (though he was a Mid-Season All-Star), Humphries was released. He joined the independent ranks for 2015, hitting .310/.330/.485 with 15 home runs and 58 RBI in 98 games for the Sioux Falls Canaries. He began 2016 with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks.

Humphries' uncle, Mark Malone, played in the NFL.
