Biographical Information[edit]
Brian Burgamy was selected by the San Diego Padres in the ninth round of the 2002 amateur draft. He played four years in their organization before being taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the AA phase of the 2005 Rule V Draft. Following two seasons in the Phillies system, he played briefly in the New York Mets chain in 2008. He spent the next five years bouncing between independent leagues, Mexico, and Australia before rejoining the Mets organization in 2014. That year, he put together his finest season with the AA Binghamton Mets, hitting .276 with 23 home runs and earning a spot on the Eastern League All-Star team. Overall, Burgamy played professional baseball for 16 years with stops in 4 MLB organizations, 6 countries, and 5 independent organizations.
The St. Louis Cardinals hired Burgamy to coach the Memphis Redbirds in 2018. The next year he was a hitting coach for the Johnson City Cardinals. Burgamy was scheduled to be the Palm Beach Cardinals hitting coach in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
In October 2020, Burgamy established his own baseball training program (RB2 Baseball) in the Binghamton, NY area and was the Managing Director. Burgamy returned to more traditional coaching in September, 2021 when George Washington University hired him as an assistant coach for the softball team. Under his tutelage, the Colonials produced a high-powered offense which led the Atlantic-10 Conference in hitting and finished with a top 10 ranking nationally in doubles per game.[1]
Burgamy was named head coach at SUNY Broome in mid-September, 2022. He remains the head coach in 2025.
