Biographical Information[edit]

Slugging first baseman Brian Becker played in the minor and independent leagues from 1996 to 2006. Undrafted, he joined the Tampa Bay Devil Rays system out of college in 1996, but did not come into his own until 1999. That season, he hit 18 home runs with 74 RBI in 129 games for the Orlando Rays. He remained in the Devil Rays system through 2001. In 2002, he slashed .325/.355/.527 with 11 home runs and 60 RBI in 85 games for the independent Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, which prompted the Chicago White Sox to sign him. He spent all of 2003 and 2004 in their system, hitting 19 home runs with 72 RBI in 2003 and 26 home runs with 94 RBI in 2004. He began 2007 with Chicago's Triple A club, the Charlotte Knights, but after hitting .158 with 2 home runs in 7 games there, he was let go. Latching on with the independent Nashua Pride, Becker slashed .299/.382/.629 with 41 home runs and 110 RBI in 123 games to finish the season. He hit .300 in 38 indy league games, and .292 in 49 games with the Chinese Professional Baseball League's Chinatrust Whales, in 2006 to wrap up his career.

Overall, Becker slashed .272/.331/.448 with 162 home runs and 714 RBI in 1,243 games over 11 seasons.

He also played for the Melbourne Reds of the Australian Baseball League.
