Biographical Information[edit]

Brayan Buelvas has played in the minors and for the Colombian national team.

He was signed by Oakland A's scout Jose Quintero less than a month after his 16th birthday. [1] He made his pro debut with the DSL Athletics and hit .244/.330/.333 in 23 games there, moving up to the AZL Athletics Green, where he batted .300/.392/.506 with 7 triples in 44 games. He tied Darryl Collins, Alexander Ovalles and Marshawn Taylor for third in the Arizona League in three-baggers. Baseball America rated him the #19 prospect in the loop. [2] The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He started 2021 in full-season ball, despite being a teenager still. He was at .226/.351/.403 after 17 games for the Stockton Ports. He then took a break to join Colombia for the Americas Olympic Qualifier. He came their closest to a hit in their opening no-hitter loss to Team Canada's Andrew Albers and relievers, but was robbed by Canadian CF Tyson Gillies, who made a diving catch. He drove in their first run the next day; after being shut out for 16 innings, his grounder off Venezuela's Andrés Sotillet scored Derwin Pomare. He finished the event 0-for-7 and had six putouts.
