Biographical Information[edit]
Braulio Baque was the youngest pitcher on the Ecuadorian national team in the 2022 South American Championship, their second-youngest player (after Carlos Rodriguez). He debuted against eventual champion Brazil, relieving Damián Villanueva in the 6th with a 6-4 deficit, the bases loaded and two outs. He escaped the jam by retiring Osvaldo Carvalho. In the 7th, he hit Ariel Frigo and allowed a [[Pedro Okuda] single then recovered to get Felipe Burin on a liner. A wild pitch scored one run, Salomon Koba grounded out, Iago Januário was intentionally walked and Daniel Chibana grounded out. His other game, he started against Bolivia and went 5 1/3 innings with five hits, four walks and two runs (both earned) while he struck out four (Humberto Salas was his first K). He got the win over Cristian Choque. He tied Choque for 8th in the event in IP, tied for 4th in games pitched and was one of two pitchers to get a win for the third-place team (Orlando León had their other two). [1]
