Biographical Information[edit]

A Baltimore native, pitcher Brandon Erbe was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the third round of the 2005 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Bluefield Orioles. He was 2-2 with 57 strikeouts, a 4.15 ERA and only 14 hits allowed in 14 games (30 1/3 IP) for Bluefield and the Aberdeen IronBirds that season. In 2006, he was 5-9 with 133 Ks and a 3.22 ERA in 28 games (114 2/3 IP, 27 starts) for the Delmarva Shorebirds, though in 2007 he dropped to 6-8 with a 6.26 ERA in 25 starts for the Frederick Keys.

While pitching for the Keys in 2008, he combined with Ryan Ouellette and Fredy Deza to throw a no-hitter against the Salem Avalanche on August 5th. Overall that year, he went 10-12 with a 4.30 ERA and led the Carolina League with 151 strikeouts. He was 5-4 with a 2.70 ERA in 18 starts for the IronBirds and Bowie Baysox in 2009. Reaching the AAA level with the Norfolk Tides in 2010, he went 0-10 with a 5.73 ERA in 14 starts before being sidelined by a torn labrum. He also tossed a game for Aberdeen that season. In 2011, he was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in 5 games (3 starts) split between the GCL Orioles and Aberdeen. He was 2-3 with a 6.82 ERA in 19 games (1 start) for Frederick in 2012.

Erbe was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies organization following the 2012 season but was released by the club early in the 2013 campaign. He was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 7 relief appearances between the Clearwater Threshers and Reading Fightin Phils.
