Biographical Information[edit]
Brandon Allen was signed by the Chicago White Sox and scouts Paul Provas and Keith Staab as a 5th round pick in the 2004 amateur draft.
The Tampa Bay Rays claimed Allen off waivers from the Oakland Athletics on April 21, 2012. He made his presence felt in his first two appearances for the Rays, both as a pinch-hitter; on April 25th, after 17 days of inactivity, he drew a bases-loaded walk off Jason Isringhausen of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to drive in the winning run in the 8th inning of a 3-2 win, then the next day hit a walk off two-run homer off Jordan Walden in the bottom of the 9th for a 4-3 win over the same Angels.
Allen became a hitting coach with the Johnson City Cardinals in 2017, Palm Beach Cardinals in 2018, and Springfield Cardinals in 2019. He was scheduled for a hitting coach role with the Memphis Redbirds in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Allen coached for Memphis in 2021-2022, then in 2023 was promoted to the major league St. Louis Cardinals as assistant hitting coach. He remained with the Cardinals in 2024.
