Biographical Information[edit]

Brad Knox pitched in the minor leagues from 2002 to 2010.

He was drafted three times. Initially, he was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 35th round of the 2000 amateur draft, one pick ahead of catcher Russell Martin, but he did not sign. He was then taken by the Royals in the 37th round of the 2001 amateur draft, ahead of outfielder Andre Ethier, but again, he did not sign. He finally did ink a contract after being taken by the Oakland Athletics in the 14th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He was signed by scout John Kuehl.

After a decent initial showing in 2002, where he had 43 strikeouts in 42 innings for the AZL Athletics, he went 6-3 with a 2.06 mark in 15 games (12 starts) for the Vancouver Canadians in 2003. With the Kane County Cougars in 2004, he went 14-5 with a 2.59 ERA in 26 games (25 starts), striking out 174 to just 24 walks in 156 1/3 innings. He was a Midwest League All-Star. After falling to 8-7, 4.27 in 2005, he rebounded to go 12-5, 3.67 in 27 games (25 starts) for the Midland RockHounds in 2006, earning a spot on the Texas League Post-Season All-Star team. He reached Triple-A for the first time in 2007, going 9-7, 4.79 in 139 innings for the Sacramento River Cats; he was 10-7, 4.40 on the year as a whole, having also spent time at Double-A. He didn't have much success after that, regularly posting ERAs over 5 for the rest of his career.

He was 68-43 with a 4.07 ERA in 182 games (160 starts) while in the Athletics, and later Los Angeles Angels, chains. At all levels, including winter and independent ball, he was 73-56, 4.23 in 232 games (206 starts).
