Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Bots Nekola went 27-0 during his college career at the College of the Holy Cross. He pitched nine seasons in the minors, with parts of five seasons playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Nekola had cups of coffee in the majors with the New York Yankees in 1929 and the Detroit Tigers in 1933.
He later pitched for the semi-pro Brooklyn Bushwicks while also being an attorney.
Nekola was later a Boston Red Sox scout from 1949 to 1976, and was credited with signing Carl Yastrzemski, Rico Petrocelli and Joe Lahoud. He won the A.B. "Turk" Karam Award in 1977.
